Help, plz.

I have been fiddling with HTML for the past hour trying to install a search bar onto What i Wore. I made the icon and I have been trying to manipulate other people’s codes to make it the right width and not have a cheesy “submit” button.

This is what I’d like it to look like:

If that’s super simple for someone out there, I sure would appreciate some help!

Need a shark-sitter for one of those ‘last minute weekends’?
nickbennettusa:

I have been looking for someone to take care of my Duck-Billed Giraffe and an 11-year old boy would be perfect for the job, because of its short legs.

I would hire this kid. First, get Gizmo puppy!

The Queen Mum as a young heart-breaker. Years later she recalled:

“People were rather inclined to propose to you in those days. You know, it was quite rather the sort of thing, I suppose. And you said, ‘No thank you’ or whatever it was.
[The rejected suitor would often reply,] ‘Oh, I thought you wouldn’t,’ so it was all very nice and lighthearted.”

She turned down Prince Albert, second in line for the throne, at least once before agreeing to marry him.
Ladies, take note.
(From an excerpt of The Queen Mother in Vogue.)

I loved that article and how she kept turning down the Prince.

Weekend Plans

Adam had a change in business plans and will be in town this weekend afterall which is AWESOME news for me! (Seperation Anxiety). Anyways, we started talking about the weekend and here’s what we have planned:

In the Kitchen:

  • Homemade Bread
  • Adam’s Wonder Chili
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • (and other fun, cozy dishes)

For him:

  • Writing in the turret (our bedroom has a 5 paneled turret with three huge windows - its good for creative vibes)

For me:

  • Read
  • Take a bath

Together Outside:

  • Run and bike at Prospect Park

Together Inside (and the real joy of the whole weekend):

  • UNPLUG THE MODEM AT 7 ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND LEAVE OFF UNTIL MONDAY AM.

We both stare at our computers too much and although I love working from home I’m pretty much at my laptop by 8am and off around 9pm, 7 days a week (minus meals and errands and such). I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS WEEKEND’S BROOKLYN QUIRK STAYCATION!

Then and Now

While I love my old apartment (minus uber nosey landlord), in hindsight it really feels like a dorm or passing residence. In my new apartment, I feel like I am setting up house, much like young brides did when they moved out on their own for the first time (from their parents homes).

This feels like home. I love it.

The Coming of Fall

fromme-toyou:

Kevin’s been itching to experiment with the video feature of the 5D MarkII and this weekend we made our first collaboration film. We didn’t want to get over our heads so we kept the project simple, under 2mins, and based clips on photographs that happen to be moving images. Kevin has been playing with video and editing so it made this collaboration a breeze and fun learning process for us both. I find it really gratifying to envision a photograph then watch it come to life.

Having just watched The Assassination of Jesse James we were inspired by the imagery of that film and wanted to base our project around it. We used “Song for Jesse” by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis to help set the tone of what we now call, “The Coming of Fall.” See it in full HD on Vimeo.

Filmed in New York City’s Central Park

aaaa-mazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Vibrations

I feel a little strange when people ask me for advice, but then again I don’t. I love to talk (and type). This year I have made solid a couple more of my life philosophies.

For starters - SAY IT. BE GRATEFUL FOR IT (even if its not there yet). Last week my theme was “Money comes easily and frequently” (thanks The Secret). I felt good about the bank account I do have, and yes, money is NOT EVERYTHING, but being comfortable enough to spend $10 on records or $50 at the thrift store… that’s a good feeling.

Then a turn in events and the Universe is RAINING GOOD FORTUNE!

When I’m on the train and have time to kill, I pull out a little notebook and write out things I am grateful for like they already happened. I just feel good about them.

I can go over countless examples of what others might call “coincidence” and I will call some Universal synchronicity. Its DAMN AWESOME when you think about something with all your being and then it comes true.

Try it!
