STFU ALREADY

I’m not really the model type and I can’t really speak for those women but nerds and geeks are absolutely outside of my dating box.  I have a few favorite tumblrs who are authored by definite N/G/D that make me swoon with their wit, intelligence, humor and/or keen senses of aesthetic.  I cannot speak for their love of alternate world games and programming, as I only admire them from afar, but I would most certainly bet that they all live on the fray of what would be considered cool.

Okay, I have to say something about this because I’m getting annoyed.

What is up with women who say they “LOVE NERDS/GEEKS/DORKS!!!!1!!eleven!!1,” BUT THEY REALLY DO NOT MEAN IT. Is that the cool thing to do now? Hardly any women whom I have seen on tumblr professing her love for NERDS/GEEKS/DORKS would EVER date one of my many N/G/D friends.

Liking an expensive and materialistic piece of technology does not make one a nerd. Enjoying an obscure band that sings about random shit like ice cream and unicorns does not a dork make. Playing World of Warcraft, knowing the entire plot of every anime series released in the last ten years, being socially awkward, programming software for a living, talking about Linux over dinner, and playing D&D is what makes a nerd, in my opinion. So until I see one of these “model” types chomping at the bit for one of my lovable nerd friends, I call bullshit.

wow. that was awesome.

When women say “nerd” they really just mean “not an asshole”. But what you’ve described above (the whole D&D thing)… you’re right. No thanks.
