I want to write an action film where the villain is John Cougar Mellencamp. In the final scene, our hero finds himself battling with Mr. Cougar Mellencamp. The Coug is lying on the ground bleeding everywhere and as he’s about to be vanquished, he spits out something mean like, “You can’t defeat me, Lee [I’ve named the hero after myself]. Mellen C always prevails!”

In response, I raise an acoustic guitar over my head and just as I’m about to slam it over Campy C’s head, I go, “Here’s a little ditty about Jack and Diane, you piece of shit.”

After I’ve defeated him, I’ll perform in his place at Farm Aid, to the roar of an appreciative crowd.

I guess this would take place in S. Indiana.

SO. this explains a lot. i went on the pill when i was 15 and stayed on it for nearly twelve years. and during that time dated a bunch of swishy bitches, some of them apparently more swishy than others. the second i got off the pill i found myself seeing a dude who grew up hunting things with guns. coincidence? i think not.

people should always meet and start relationships free of hormonal manipulation. it isn’t just the “swishy bitches” part - women on the pill are more likely to select men that are more like relatives/more genetically and immune system similar - which isn’t what we usually do when we are selecting a mate. in mimicking pregnancy you are more likely to surround yourself with providers/caregivers/nurturers. so the best plan is meet off the pill to be sure you are attracted to his immune system (among other things), then make sure you can still stand him on the pill. If you can make it in both realms you have yourself a catch.

I’ve been saying more or less the same thing for years.

I’ve spent the past 8.5 years away from home and most of my friends are like me - young, single girls, without babies. In fact, living in New York and being under 30, there’s almost this ideal that you shouldn’t even worry about marriage or babies in your twenties.

Whatever. I can’t wait to have babies and the only role models or resources I have are reading about other girls online, near my age who are pregnant or have little ones (Melissa and Georgie are two of my favorites right now!). I also love reading about moms with older kids, going on little dates or pumpkin picking and the fun things moms get to do with kids. I love kids! I love babies!
